ABOUT LIVING WORD ACADEMY

Christ-Centered Education for Lifelong Learning

At Living Word Academy, we believe that education is about far more than academics. Children are created by God with unique gifts, abilities, and callings. Our desire is to partner with parents in nurturing the whole child—academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally—in a Christ-centered environment where students are known, encouraged, and challenged.

We seek to provide an education that is rooted in God's Word, academically excellent, and intentionally personal. By maintaining small class sizes and individualized instruction, we help each student grow at his or her own pace while developing the confidence, character, and wisdom needed to serve God and others.

Our Mission

The purpose of Living Word Academy is to provide students with a strong foundation in reading, writing, and mathematics while encouraging them to discover and develop their unique God-given interests and talents.

Our goal is to cultivate a strong work ethic, essential life skills, and a lifelong love of learning through a variety of engaging educational methods. Above all, we seek to glorify God by teaching His Word throughout every stage of a child's education, equipping students both academically and spiritually for faithful lives of service in this world and for the life to come.

Our Educational Philosophy

Living Word Academy is built on a mastery-based approach to learning. Rather than moving students through material based solely on age or the calendar, we believe children should develop a deep understanding of each concept before progressing to the next. This allows students to build confidence, avoid learning gaps, and experience genuine academic success.

Because every child learns at a different pace, our teachers provide individualized instruction that meets students where they are while maintaining high expectations. Some students may need additional time and practice to master a skill, while others are ready to move ahead. Our goal is not simply to complete a curriculum—it is for every student to truly learn.

Mornings are devoted to individualized instruction in Bible, reading, writing, and mathematics. Afternoons emphasize collaborative learning through science, history, music, art, outdoor education, life skills, discussion, and hands-on projects. This balance allows students to grow both academically and socially while developing curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

Above all, we desire to cultivate students who love learning because they recognize that all truth comes from God. As they grow in knowledge and wisdom, students are equipped to serve Christ faithfully in their homes, churches, communities, and future vocations, motived by Christ and His love for them.

Our Biblical Foundation

Living Word Academy is a ministry of Living Word Lutheran Church and is grounded in the truth of God's Word. We believe that all wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 9:10) and that education should never separate knowledge from the One who created all things.

The Bible is not simply one subject among many—it provides the foundation for everything we teach. Students study Scripture daily and learn to view every area of life through the lens of God's truth, His grace in Jesus Christ, His cross and His empty tomb, and the identity he gives each of us as His dear children. In light of the gospel, we're motivated to love and serve others.

Small Class Sizes

One of the greatest strengths of Living Word Academy is our commitment to small class sizes.

Smaller classes allow teachers to know each student personally, provide individualized instruction, encourage meaningful relationships, and communicate regularly with parents. Rather than being one student among many, each child is valued as an individual created in the image of God and equipped with unique gifts to develop.

"Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.  He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;  but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings of eagles;  they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."  Isaiah 40:28-31
