Ministerial Education Grant
Attention Parents
Exciting news for parents! If you’ve considered having your child attend one of our WELS preparatory schools, there is grant money available to assist with the cost of tuition. The Ministerial Education Grant (MEG)* has been established to assist high school students who wish to attend Luther Preparatory School (LPS) in Watertown, WI, or Michigan Lutheran Seminary (MLS) in Saginaw, MI. Speak with your pastor for more information about these schools and the grant money available.

Luther Prep and Michigan Lutheran Seminary are outstanding schools that are committed to provide a high-quality Christian education with a curriculum and campus culture that prepares young people for service in God’s kingdom. Many of our current WELS pastors and teachers attended our preparatory schools and we want to assist young people in that same journey, if they so desire.
We are pleased to inform you about a grant for which your child may be eligible. The Ministerial Education Grant (MEG) is available to members of congregations of the Blue Ridge circuit. It is designed to support families like yours in paying tuition and other educational costs to help ensure that financial constraints do not hinder your child’s ability to attend.
How Can I Help?
“…but the workers are few.”

Jesus said that long ago when he looked at the crowds of people who were “harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:36). He’d say the same thing today. The high vacancy rate among pastors and teachers in WELS means that churches and schools are without workers at a time when Jesus tells us: “The harvest is plentiful” (Matthew 9:37).What did Jesus do to address the problem? He turned to his disciples to get involved. He turns to us today. He says, “Ask the Lord of the harvest…” (Matthew 9:38). And so, we pray and ask the Lord to provide more workers for the harvest fields.
And then, let’s consider how we can be an answer to the prayer. How can we help?As you are likely aware, there is a severe shortage of pastors and teachers within our congregations and schools of WELS. Vacancies create real challenges, but we do not want to back away from our mission as Christians and as churches and schools to expand the reach of the gospel to new people in new places.

To help address this pressing need for workers, we have established the Ministerial Education Grant (MEG). Our aim is to offer financial assistance to students in our Blue Ridge circuit who wish to attend one of our WELS preparatory high schools (Luther Prep or Michigan Lutheran Seminary). We need your help.To financially sustain the MEG program for many years to come and encourage young people to consider full-time ministry, your congregation contributes an annual gift to the MEG. In addition, we humbly ask you to give prayerful thought and consider a generous donation. You can make a significant impact by providing financial assistance to students who are eager to serve God in his kingdom. This is not just an investment in education; it is an investment in the kingdom of God.

Our preparatory schools play a vital role in shaping the next generation of spiritual leaders. They provide young men and women with education, guidance, and the spiritual foundation necessary to consider and pursue a calling in full time gospel ministry. By contributing to the MEG you are helping provide more workers for God’s harvest fields, and answer the prayer of Matthew 9:37-38: “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest fields.”
If you have questions regarding the MEG grant, please feel free to speak with your pastor, or call/email Pastor Stuebs (423-416-0224; pastorstuebslw@gmail.com).
